NUBS KLEINKE
Solons Pitcher 1940 - 1941
Right hander Norbert George "Nubs" Kleinke spent parts of five seasons with the Rochester Red Wings from 1934-38, compiling a 70-45 record, the second highest number of games won in the history of the franchise. Kleinke still holds the record for the best start by a Red Wings pitcher, starting the 1937 season 11-0. He came to Sacramento to hurl for the Solons in 1940 and 1941 before being traded to the Oaks at the end of the season. He pitched two and a half seasons for Oakland before he was traded to San Diego in the middle of the 1944 season. Kleinke spent parts of two seasons in the Major Leagues with St. Louis, compiling a 1-1 record with a 4.86 ERA in nine games.
