Solons Catcher - 1943
At the age of 18, Edward Russell Malone was signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1938. The "Iron Man" made his Pacific Coast League debut with the Solons, playing in 117 games behind the plate and in the infield in 1943, before catching for the Angels from 1947 to 1949. He then went to the majors, where he played for the Chicago White Sox parts of the 1949 and 1950 seasons. He then returned to the PCL to catch for the Oaks in 1950 and '51, and the Stars from 1951 to 1954.
