Joseph Charles Orengo, 6', 185 lbs., was born in San Francisco, California, on November 29, 1914. After three years with the Solons in the Pacific Coast League, Orengo was picked up by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1939. He played third base for the Cardinals in 1939 and 1940 and for the New York Giants in 1941. In 1943, he played for the Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers. He was with the Detroit Tigers in 1944 and the Chicago White Sox in 1945.

After he was released by the White Sox on February 15, 1946, he coached for the Solons under Dick Bartell in 1947. He was elevated to team manager in the 1948 season. The Solons finished 75 and 113, in eighth place, under Orengo in 1948.

Orengo died in San Francisco on July 24, 1988.
