After manager Casey Stengel went to New York following the Oaks'
fabulous pennant victory in 1948, Oakland's management under Charlie
Dressen traded the popular Billy Raimondi to the Sacramento Solons
for catcher Frankie Kerr. Kerr shared the catching responsibilities
for the Oaks with Don Padgett in 1949. Don, who is himself a seasoned veteran behind the plate, gives the Acorns a solid bat as well as defense.
