Roy Zimmerman, from Tremont, Pennsylvania, started in pro ball in 1937 and was purchased by the New York Giants from Newark in 1945. He jumped to the Mexican League in 1946, and was out of organized ball until 1950, when at the age of 34 he was acquired by the Oaks.
