CLAY DALRYMPLE
Solons Catcher 1956 - 1959
Clayton Erroll Dalrymple, from Chico, California, played for the Solons from 1956 to 1959, sharing the catcher's duties with Johnny McNamara, Danny Balch, Cuno Barragan, and Bob Roselli.

He was called to the majors the following year, and caught for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1960 to 1968. He had his best hitting year with the Phillies in 1962, hitting 11 home runs and batting in 54 runs, with a .276 average. He led the league catchers in assists in 1963, 1965, and 1967. In 1964, he led the National League in sacrifice flies. During the 1966 and 1967 seasons, he set a league record with 99 consecutive errorless games and 628 chances.

He was traded to Baltimore in 1969, and caught for the Orioles from 1969 to 1971. Although he broke his ankle in 1970, he helped the Orioles win the 1969 and 1971 American League Pennants and 1970 World Series.
