Jay Ragni played for the Stockton Ports in 1946, Idaho Falls
Russets in 1947, Wenatchee Chiefs in 1948, and Bremerton in 1949. Originally an outfielder
with a cannon for an arm, he was first acquired by the Oakland Oaks in 1948. In the photo
below, he talks to Oaks coach John Babich at the start of the '48
season. After injuring his arm, he was sent to Wenatchee, where he completed the season. He
later converted to a pitcher with
the ability to baffle hitters with "junk" pitches. He was acquired by the Oaks again as a left
handed pitcher in 1951. Later he was sold back to Wenatchee in 1953.
