Les Webber


Right hander Lester Elmer Webber joined the Oaks after six years in the majors, where he pitched a total of 432 innings, with 23 wins, 19 losses, and a cumulative ERA of 4.19. He pitched for the Dodgers in '42-'46. An effective reliever, Les led the National League with ten saves in 1943. He was acquired by the Cleveland Indians after the '46 season, and came to Oakland along with outfielder George Metkovich in May of 1947 in the successful "trade" with Cleveland that allowed Will Hafey to stay on with the Oaks on option during the '48 season. 6', 185 lbs. Hails from Kelseyville, California.
